Modern Studies draws in a broad range of concepts, issues, and ideas in order to develop a pupil's knowledge and understanding of the world they live in. They will encounter current social, political, and economic issues that are affecting Scotland, the United Kingdom, and the world abroad. Analytic and evaluative skills are developed throughout, as well as understanding of civic institutions, leaving graduates better placed and prepared to comprehend and engage with the society they inhabit.
