The inital focus of S2 Modern Studies is on crime, law, and order. We examine the conditions that can often lead to crime as well as the more immediate causes. We keep things local by considering current and recent issues with crime within Scotland and the UK before learning how the police and prison system seek to deal with it. We go on to look further afield in our study of the inner workings of the world fastest growing power, and soon to be largest economy, China. We explore the unique systems of Chinese government, the day to day experience of different people around its diverse provinces and cities, as well as the key role China plays in global supply chains and how this impacts upon Scotland.
