Barnardos Hear 4U Service
Barnardo’s Hear 4u Advocacy Service has secured additional funding to deliver advocacy within schools during the academic year 2022/23.
The purpose of Advocacy Within Schools is to create a more balanced wellbeing which will also allow children & young people to develop some skills on becoming more confident and independent leading on into adulthood.
This service in schools, gives children and young people the opportunity to speak to someone independent about their worries or uncertainties so that they can get some support on how to overcome them in a positive way. This will be done through having someone listening to them, taking part in fun activities / worksheets and group work sessions.
Some examples of areas needing support may include friendships struggles, bullying, socialising, club info, coping strategies, anxieties, self-esteem & confidence building, access to support services & info, bereavement, managing pressures, school transitions, changes, general worries, subject choices. This is just a small list of examples however it can be related to anything within their wellbeing.
