Course Overview
In S1 social studies, young people develop their understanding of the world by learning about other people and their values, in different times, places and circumstances; they also develop their understanding of their environment and of how it has been shaped. Pupils are taught three subjects- geography, history and modern studies.
Geography units:
- Where in The World
- Rainforests
History units:
- Ancient civilisations – Celts and Romans
- Scottish Wars of Independence
Modern Studies units:
- A study of a democracy - Scotland, compared to a dictatorship - North Korea
