Pupils will further develop their ability to learn from religious and non religious answers to the issues of life. They will develop their ability to form and explain their own opinions as well as understand that alternative viewpoints are also relevant. Pupils will broaden their understanding of multicultural Scotland. Religious and Moral Education gives pupils the chance to explore the world's major religions and views which are independent of religious belief that will help them to consider challenges that are posed by these beliefs and values. It focuses on developing responsible attitudes to other people. This will counteract prejudice and intolerance. Pupils will search for meaning value and purpose in life. There is an intrinsic value in learning about religion as well as from it, as pupils will develop their understanding of society and their own role in it.
