The National 4/5 qualification in Geography gives learners an understanding of geographical issues at a local, national and global level. This covers a range of topics such as glacial and coastal landscape, climate change, health, population, cities and farming. Pupils practice a range of skills such as mapping, graph interpretation, problem solving and researching. Geography has a strong scientific element to the course so it complements subjects such as Biology and Chemistry. It also has strong links with other humanities subjects such as Modern Studies and History. Pupils are required to take part in a fieldtrip to Grasmere in June to gather data in preparation for the added value unit and assignment.
