Our programme offers two distinct routes for pupils to explore their interests and develop valuable skills for their future careers.

Route 1: Practical Woodwork (N4/N5)

This route focuses on woodworking skills and is perfect for pupils interested in careers that involve practical element. Through a combination of theory and workshop-based activities, candidates will enhance their manual dexterity, learn safe working practices, and develop proficiency in using various tools, equipment, and materials. They will also acquire essential skills such as reading drawings, measuring, cutting, shaping, and finishing materials. Working collaboratively in a shared workshop environment, our pupils build self-confidence, improve numeracy, and enhance critical thinking, planning, organising, and communication skills. The N4/N5 SQA qualification in practical woodwork is highly valuable and opens doors to a range of practical skill-based careers.

Route 2:  Design and Manufacture (N4/5, Higher, Advanced Higher)

This route offers an exciting journey from N4/N5 to advanced higher level, allowing pupils to delve into the world of design and manufacture. Through this course, candidates will develop both creative and practical skills by designing and crafting innovative solutions to real-world problems. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of design and manufacture on everyday life and explore the diverse opportunities within manufacturing industries. Encouraging a broad perspective, pupils will call upon knowledge from other carricular areas, make decisions, take responsibility for their actions, generate and refine ideas, apply knowledge, and justify their design choices. These transferable skills make candidates well-equipped for various career paths, including design, built environment, engineering, and any field that values creative potential.
